A Question of Priorities

As I write this piece on March 22, we are only hours removed from a horrific Muslim Terrorist attack in London.  Likewise, we are just days removed from the horrific and unconscionable rape of a 14-year old girl in Maryland at the hands of an Illegal Immigrant.  And of course, on a day to day basis, we see countless examples of crime and violence that largely come to us via our urban ghettos. Sadly, none of this shocks us anymore--how could it, when we see similar things on a nearly ongoing basis in our lives these days?  Instead, these events--which would have been unfathomable to most of us at an earlier period in history--have become simply part of the ongoing treadmill of depravity and danger that you and I face each and every day when we walk out of our front doors.

These type of events--endless and ongoing as they seem to be--are concerns to us.  And rightfully so.  You and I are looking for ways to protect ourselves and our families from these types of actions both on an individual level, day-to-day...and also on a much larger scale basis.  We look to ways to protect ourselves as a nation and as a people from these sub-human pieces of trash that terrorize good people around the world.

Our safety, protection, and security are a major point of emphasis for all of us--likely the most important priority we all have when it comes to not only how we interact with our environment each day, but in how we expect our leaders and politicians to take action on the larger sense.  They shape our politics every bit as much as they shape our daily decisions (perhaps even moreso).  Incidents like London, Rockford, and countless others are exactly the types of things that hard-working, good people like you and I are demanding that our leaders and office holders attack and deal with above all other issues.  After all, if our families and ourselves are not safe in our own nation and in our own homes, then what else truly matters?

But while we've seen these horrific actions over the last week, what have the Democrats and Liberals in America been focused on during that same period?  One of their judges--yet again--shot down a new Travel Ban put forth by President Trump...a ban designed to keep people like those involved in the London and Rockford incidents (and countless others) out of our country.  The mayor of Los Angeles gave instruction for local law enforcement not to cooperate with ICE when it comes to crimes committed by Illegal Aliens.  Liberals and Democrats have been focused on finding some sort of connection between President Trump and Russia...a connection which would not be problematic even if they could find it and prove it (thus far, they can't...and they haven't even come close).  They have been focused on asking for Trump's tax returns (even, in the case of Rachel Maddow, breathlessly waving around two pages of an old tax return she illegally obtained, claiming that it showed something problematic that most of the American public didn't think was out of the ordinary when they saw it).  They have focused on complaining about a budget proposed by President Trump (as opposed to all the recent years without a budget during the Obama Administration), shouting from the mountaintops of the "injustice" that federal funding will be cut off from Meals on Wheels...federal funding that comprises a only a mere 3% of that program.

To put it bluntly, while both President Trump and while we who voted for him have been focused on the most critical issues we face--the safety and security of ourselves and our loved ones--the Democrats have been focused on far more trivial ideas.  While Democrats have been focused on the theory of rights and law when it comes to Muslim Terrorists and Illegal Aliens, we have been focused on the real-life implications and effects of allowing these people to exist in our nation.  While the Left continues to try and convince America that Russia is some sort of modern threat, we turn on the TV and see the disturbing video of yet another attack from America's real threat--the Islamic World.

In short, Democrats seem to be approaching political decisions from a theoretical or philosophical standpoint--as though they are in some sort of debating society or college-level political science course.  Meanwhile, we and President Trump are approaching these decisions with the realization that our very lives are on the line, and that the time for "theory" and "philosophy" is long past...instead, the time for blunt, decisive, and even violent action is at hand.

If you ever needed an illustration of the clear dichotomy between the two parties or the two ends of the political spectrum in America, this last week or two would be as good of an illustration as you are likely to find.

We are confronted by an era of history which is a matter of life and death--both on an individual basis and on the basis of Western Culture as a whole.  And as we are confronted with this most sobering and vital of challenges...the Democrats seem to approach this same era as though they are merely approaching an essay question on some University exam.

This is why Democrats and Liberals must be totally prevented from taking part in American politics, or in the decisions of American society as a whole...because they are proving--in real time--that they do not have the maturity or discernment to understand the gravity of the problems we face, much less how to begin attacking those problems.

The American People and the Christian People are literally fighting for our lives...and the Democrats are going on about Taxes, Russia, & Multiculturalism.  That, in a nutshell, tells you all you need to know.

Why Should I Care About Trump's Taxes, Anyway?

By now, you all are familiar about the career implosion that Rachel Maddow and MSNBC undertook on March 14--hyping for two and a half hours on their network and on social media that they finally had some of President Trump's tax returns.  And then, once Maddow's program started, we had to endure another 15 minutes of hype before they finally got to the segment where they showed the tax return.  It was a series of ongoing hype, teases, stretching, and "After this commercial break..." television that would have put an episode of WWE Raw to shame.

And the big reveal was that Donald Trump actually paid his taxes.

As I write this piece on the day after the Maddow debacle, upon seeing the ridicule that she and MSNBC have taken for portraying to the country that they had some sort of smoking gun on President Trump, when it turns out they had nothing out of the ordinary...I step back and am left with one question:

Why should I care about Trump's tax returns at all, whatever they might show?

The knee-jerk reaction from practically any journalist or Liberal would be, "because every Presidential candidate since Nixon has released their tax returns!"  Well, this is true...but stop and think--throughout all of the elections that you have voted in during your life, have you ever made a decision about who to vote for based on a piece of information in one of these tax returns?  I know I certainly haven't ever cast a vote on this basis.  Yes, that information has been out there for roughly the last 40 years of Presidential politics...but that information has proven to be largely irrelevant as far as the voting public is concerned.  Tax returns always gave the media and the journalists plenty to pour over on a slow news day...but to we who actually cast ballots, tax returns seem to be little more than irrelevant information that does not, generally, enter into the decision we make at the ballot box.

In other words, the release of tax returns seems to be solely for the benefit of the media and the journalists...not for the benefit of those of us who actually are voting.

So that's why the media care about tax returns...but why should I--your humble columnist and voter--care?  Think about it--if we actually had Trump's tax returns for the last 10 years, 20 years, or however far back the media wants them from....there are only three possible outcomes of what we could find from them.  And none of the three outcomes would convince me to stop backing Donald Trump.  Those three possible outcomes are as follows:

  • Outcome #1:  President Trump has paid all of his taxes in full, with no questions of deductions, tax shelters, etc.  Obviously, in this case, there would be "nothing to see here", and there would be no reason for me to stop supporting him.
  • Outcome #2:  President Trump has paid all of the taxes he legally owes, but has taken advantage of loopholes, tax law, and other legal mechanisms in order to reduce the amount he has paid to it's lowest possible legal amount.  Again, I would find nothing wrong with this (after all, a man would have to be a fool to voluntarily pay one penny more in taxes than the absolute minimum he can legally get away with), and it would probably cause me to respect the President even more.  Of course, in this outcome, Liberals and Journalists could be expected to be beside themselves with righteous indignation, because in their world, there is something about taking advantage of a legal tax shelter or deduction that indicates a lack of character (don't ask me to explain why they consider this to be an indication of a lack of character...I don't understand it, either!)
  • Outcome #3:  Trump has broken tax law and has illegally paid less tax than what he owes.  Of course, this is the worst possible outcome of the three.  But if this were the case (and I suspect this would be the least likely of the three possible outcomes), would I stop supporting President Trump?  No, I don't think that I would turn my back on him.  In an era where the Federal Government most often does more harm than good to American society, I can't find it within myself to criticize someone who doesn't enable this toxic Federal Government by depriving it of it's lifeblood--the income of hard-working Americans.  Tax Evasion, as far as I'm concerned, is essentially a "victimless crime" in 2017...sort of a "Two wrongs actually do make a Right" scenario.  I'm not advocating for Tax Evasion, mind you...but I'm also not going to think any less of someone, in terms of character, who engages in it.  Think of it like jaywalking.
Since the Maddow debacle, Journalists and Liberals have floated the idea that Trump purposely leaked the tax return himself in order to make himself look good.  But if that were the case, wouldn't MSNBC have looked at the return, said to themselves, "Wait, this makes Trump look good", and not have put it on the air?  Or at the very least, confined it to a three-minute segment in which they crowed about how they need more tax returns?  That theory really doesn't make sense.  No, from the actions of both Maddow and MSNBC--the two-plus hours of hype, the entire Maddow show being centered around the return, and the significant amounts of time the return got on the shows of Lawrence O'Donnell and Brian Williams who followed Maddow...it is clear that MSNBC thought they had a smoking gun.  And the response from Social Media and the Twitterverse within minutes of the big reveal proved that the gun they had wasn't smoking whatsoever.

As with so many other issues during the election season and the early days of the Trump Presidency, the Maddow Tax Debacle has shown the massive disconnect between the issues that the Mainstream Media thinks are important (Trump's taxes, Russia, "Grab 'em by the pussy") vs. the issues that regular American People know to be important (Jobs & the Economy, Terrorism, Illegal Immigration, & Urban Crime).  With such a profound disconnect, is it any wonder that the mainstream journalists and Democrats of today keep constantly ending up with egg on their faces?

It's Time For America to Give Up on the Democratic Party

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."--John Adams

All of us have a great reverence for the Constitution.  And rightfully so, as it is the greatest ruling document every put together by human beings.  But at the end of the day, it is still a document put together by human beings, and as such, it cannot--by definition--be perfect (no document, of any kind, devised by human beings can be).  To acknowledge the weaknesses of the Constitution is not to "hate" the Constitution--particularly when our Founding Fathers were wise enough to construct a process by which our Constitution may be changed (the brilliant--though seldom used--process of amending the Constitution).

So there is nothing undue in determining the areas in which the Constitution may have some weak points or some "holes".  Doing so is the first step towards amending that Constitution, thereby strengthening it and making it a document that creeps closer and close to perfection (though it can never truly get there).   And one of the biggest holes in the Constitution is one that is illustrated by the John Adams quote that I started this piece with.  Our Constitution is a magnificent document for the governance of good, civilized people who have a moral backbone.  But when it comes to immoral, or non-Christian people, the Constitution is inadequate for their governance (as, I would argue, any other document would be inadequate to codify rights for them or to govern them).  No man-made document has the power to take bad people and magically turn them into good people--not even the United States Constitution has that ability.  Our form of government and our Constitution--when placed into the hands of evil, immoral people--becomes just as destructive as a dictatorship or any other form of government would be.

As a people and a nation, we seem to have an obsession with "making sure all voices are heard".  We seem to have this believe that if all voices and all perspectives--no matter how ridiculous, dangerous, or destructive--are represented, then we all benefit in the long run.  But is this really the case?  Let's say your young child came home from school, and you asked him, "What did you learn today"", and then your child responded, "I learned that 2+2=4".  You would likely think to yourself, "Good, my child is learning basic math skills".  But what if, instead, your child said, "We had one teacher tell us that 2+2=4, then another teacher got up and said 2+2=5...then another one said 2+2=7".  What would you think then?  You likely would think that your child didn't get very much of value at school on that day, and that he was exposed to a preponderance of harmful information that will not stand him in good stead later in life.  You would wonder why those who advocated for the wrong information--information that has been demonstrated to be wrong and harmful--were allowed to "teach" that information to your child, when doing so can only result in negative consequences for your child later in life.  You would know--instinctively--that there was no value in allowing the teacher to speak who claimed that 2+2=5.  You would realize that there is no value in that wrong teacher being allowed to educate your child, or in that teacher even having the opportunity to influence the school or your child's education in any way.  You would realize that some voices do NOT need to be heard.

Now, to take that example from the hypothetical realm and bring it back to the real world...Find a major city that has been under Democratic control for decades.  It shouldn't be hard, they are all over the place. Now, if you dare, drive through that city.  Not the "touristy" parts of the city--not the sports or entertainment districts that are meant for public consumption--but the real city.  The ghetto, the hood...the part where the dangerous criminals and human garbage live and thrive...go there (if you dare).  What you will see will shock and depress you.  Then, once you safely leave and get back home, think about the crime, drug use, poverty, and destitution you saw...

...and then realize that these cities have been under solid Democratic control for, most likely, a period of time much longer than you and I have been alive.  Don't believe me?  Here's one source showing that the Democrats are in power in our most dangerous cities.

Here's another source.

 And yet another.

Now, is it the Democratic policy that causes the poverty, violence, and crime?  Or is it the lack of character of the impoverished, violent, and criminal citizens that leads to them voting Democrat?  It's sort of a "chicken and the egg" question, as far as I'm concerned...but at the end of the day, it's the same end result.  The end result being that--nearly without exception--Democratically controlled urban areas are dangerous, unsafe, crime-ridden, and corrupt.  And as most of these cities have little or no influence from Republicans, Conservatives, or others from across the political spectrum...they have nobody to blame for their urban hellholes than themselves.

We live in an era when people are saying left and right that we need to rid ourselves of the Electoral College and allow the popular vote to decide the Presidency (the implications of this being that the major urban areas would have even more of a say in who becomes President).  We live in an era where Democrats blame "redistricting" (or, as they refer to it "gerrymandering") for the lack of seats that they have in Congress and at the state level.  Basically, we live in an era when Democrats and Liberals are demanding that changes be made so that these Urban Democrats can have more of a say in our State and Federal Governments.

But looking at the results in those areas where Urban Democrats and Liberals already have control, why on Earth would a reasonable person back any sort of changes that would give these people more of a say in America?  They have already fucked up the cities in which they live and control beyond all recognition...why on Earth would we want them to have more of a say in America, and bring that depravity to us on a nationwide level?

And if an examination of the depravity of the cities isn't enough, then just look at the boondoggles that have resulted from major Liberal initiatives over the years, such as the so-called "Great Society", the New Deal (which prolonged the Great Depression, or perhaps caused a second Depression, depending on how you look at history), Social Security (which is the biggest single reason for America's financial problems), and most recently, the complete clusterfuck that is Obamacare.

Quite frankly, everything the Democrats touch turns to shit.  And it's no recent thing, it's pretty much been the story of the last century of American History.

It is for this reason that I firmly believe Democrats and Liberals must be completely cut out of the political process in America.  They bring nothing of value or positivity to the table, as evidenced by the complete shitholes that their cities have become, and the costly boondoggles that their signature programs have been.  It will be a long road, of course...but we have the amendment process in the Constitution for a reason.  Outlaw the Democratic Party...remove the right to vote (and perhaps even remove congressional representation) from America's major cities...take away the civil rights of those who insist on backing some form of modern Liberalism.  It will not happen overnight...but it can happen.

And if America and Western Civilization are to survive, it must happen.

Whatever it takes in order for Liberals and Democrats to be cut out of America's political process and out of American society is something that we must be in favor of.  The discussion and the action in order to get us to that point starts right here, on this website.

Buckle up...this is going to be a Hell of a ride!
